Kathleen Jones is a clay artist working out of Dayton, Nevada under the professional studio name kaPHÉ Pottery. She began her pursuit of Arts & Crafts movement inspired pottery in 2018 after her retirement in 2017 and takes inspiration from William Morris, “Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be beautiful or believe to be useful." Kathleen believes that we are again approaching an era where hand craftsmanship is undergoing a revival of appreciation. She says, "Nothing tugs us back to reality more than nature and art."
Kathleen achieved her Roycroft Artisan mark in 2024 and continues to explore and innovate in her work. Her work can found in the permanent collection at the Vasefinder Museum in Carson City, Nevada and new work is available via the Charlie B Gallery in Carson City. She has been also shown at the Prism Art Gallery in Minden, Nevada, 2019. Her primary techniques are hand throwing, but also include handbuilding, carving and sculpting. She is currently continuing studies in glaze chemistry and began pursuing an interest in stained glass in February 2023 with a goal incorporating these two mediums, as in Fulper lamps.
